How to get around on the Clearwater Beach Roundabout
The Roundabout is a nice addition to the beach, and with just a few
tips can be negotiated safely by anyone.
NORTH
WESTEAST
(mainland) SOUTH
1st... Plan ahead. Get into the preferred lanes before
you get to the roundabout.
If you're coming from the South and want to go to the mainland...
use the right lane, (or either lane if traffic is heavy).
If you're coming from the South and want to go to any exit
to the
north beach... use the left lane.
If you're coming from the North and want to go to the south
beach... use the right lane.
If you're coming from the North and want to go to the mainland
or the marina... use the left lane.
If you're coming from the mainland and want to go to the
north beach ... use the right lane.
If you're coming from the mainland and want to go to the
south beach or the marina ... use the left
lane.
2nd... Bepolite and remember these basic "right of
way" rules....
YIELD to those already in the roundabout. (Do
not enter until it is clear, so you can do so safely.)
YIELD to those ahead of you to your LEFT!
(If you can see their turn signals, they are ahead of you
and sooner or later must exit to the right in front of you. LET THEM!)
YIELD to those on your RIGHT! (Slow down and
allow them to pass if you wish to exit or change lanes. Use your turn signals,
and drive defensively! If in doubt...yield!)
PANIC... If you cannot exit safely from the inside lane of
the roundabout... Don't stop...., "SMILE"...,
go around, and try again!
That's it!.... If you follow these simple tips... you may
actually enjoy driving our new landmark... and once you have the fundamentals....
you'll be able to grab a peek at the great scenery as well!
